About

Meet Carnell.

For 25 years, Carnell Taylor put on the uniform of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and went to work to protect and serve our residents. He rose through the ranks working leadership roles in the field and particularly as a District First Sergeant supervising Nash and Edgecombe counties. He served on the Governor’s security detail and as Director of the State Highway Patrol Training Academy. Carnell retired at the rank of Major.

After retiring from the State Highway Patrol, Carnell started a successful small retail business selling and servicing personal computers.

Today, Carnell Taylor is running for Nash County Commissioner in District 3 which includes Middlesex, Bailey, Spring Hope and much of Southern Nash County.

“Our county is facing many challenges. We have a serious lack of EMS service in our district. We are facing hard choices dealing with growth from a growing Triangle area. We need independent leadership who will put the interests of our people first and foremost.”

“ I will always stand on my values of faith, family, and community.”

Carnell Taylor has the background, experience, expertise, and leadership to serve as your next County Commissioner.

Public Safety

➤ We need to fix the EMS Crisis facing our county and in particular Southern Nash County. The lack of staff and ambulances means residents in Southern Nash County have to wait extended periods of time during medical emergencies and accidents. I will fix this problem.

➤ We need to support our first responders – making sure we have competitive pay schedules for our deputies, first responders and 911 telecommunicators. I will work with our Sheriff and the EMS Director to ensure we have a professionally trained, fully staffed group of men and women working on the front lines of law enforcement and Emergency Services. This includes support and funding for our local volunteer fire departments.

➤ We need better supervision and leadership in our Department of Social Services. The death of an innocent 8-year-old girl sent shock waves through our county and demonstrated the failed leadership we have guiding Nash County.

➤ Growth should be a top priority. We must develop policies that support our areas that can accommodate overflow growth from the Triangle. But we must also work to preserve our farmlands and open lands to provide an appropriate buffer and protect our farmers.

Smart Growth

Educational

Excellence

➤ Invest in our Public Schools and our Community College system.  Focus on job creation and economic growth. Review our workforce development and training programs to ensure our residents get the job skills they need to compete in today’s competitive job market.

➤ Infrastructure investments will be critical as well. We need to do more to support our local municipalities when it comes to water and sewer capacity, and funding for our local parks, while protecting our environment and watershed.
